Getting into UX could take: 6 months, 1, 2, 3 years… all typical entry marks the starting out and junior designer face. This harsh reality of getting into UX is often missed out from all the noise, hype, and intensive upskilling career tracks. Often newcomers to the field are promised easy tracked career progression or worse – the immediate employment option. In this video, I’ll walk through a few examples of what the market is like today and what designers, user researchers who are stuck can do about it. While a lot of jobs will list plenty of requirements and want to see real commercial outcomes there are paths that most of the designers who want to grow into UX can still take.
